The aim of this project was to
develop new ways of working with young offenders and children
and youth at risk,
and to promote artistic methods for accomplishing
prevention work. It involved running 10 theatre and arts
workshops
for young people from potentially pathological
backgrounds. On 9th June 2006 a national conference "The
art of
prevention - prevention as art" was organised in Bielsko-Biała.
The
speakers included policemen from the National Headquarters
in Warsaw, clinical and school psychologists and
an arts
therapist working with prisoners in the Wrocław
area. A special issue of "Jesteśmy" magazine was prepared,
devoted to crime and violence prevention and addressed
to young
people, teachers and educators.
