This project focused on inclusion and active
participation of children and young people at risk in the
mainstream of life through the programme of artistic workshops.
This programme combined several areas of activity and creative
exploration, mainly: creating, decorating and animating traditional
toys.

There were 16 youngsters (boys and girls)
in the workshop group aged 12-17. Most of them came from
poor and dysfunctional families. At the beginning they visited
an exhibition of traditional Polish toys and learned about
various local traditions. They also interviewed their grandparents
and old people from their families, trying to find out about
toys from the past. The next step was to make drawings -
projects of toys, they would like to create. Afterwards the
participants were ready to make their first toys. They worked
mainly with wood, using also cardboard and fabric. Each participant
created his/her own toys and the whole group worked on a
huge traditional toy-bird with moving wings, colourfully
decorated.
